Avatars
Avatars are incarnations of divine beings from higher spiritual realms down to lower spiritual realms including
the physical plane as human beings. Most avatars that have been recognized or acknowledged as being such have been
from the Hindu religion. Avatars outside of Hinduism include
Jesus Christ of Narareth (Christianity),
Prophet Mohammad (Islam),
Mahavira, the 24th tirthankara (Jainism) and
Zoroaster (Zoroastrianism).
(NOTE: Gautama Buddha, founder of Buddhism circa 400 to 500 BC was not an avatar. However, he went to Bodhi-Gaya (Kikata)
to get enlightenment from the birth place of the Vishnu avatar named Sugata Buddha circa 1500 BC.)
Some avatars who are now living include:
a)
Amma
(or Ammachi or Mata Amritanandamayi born on September 27, 1953 in Parayakadavu, a fishing village in Kerala, India)
and
b)
Mother Meera
(born as Kamala Reddy on December 26, 1960
in Chandepalle, a small village in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Darshan with Mother Meera in New York ).
c)
Sathya Sai Baba
(born Sathyanarayana Raju on November 23, 1926
in Puttaparthi, a remote village in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, India),
Unfortunately, there is always some skepticism and controversy surrounding those who are regarded
as avatars.
